Tonia M. Ajamu APRN,PMHNP-BC is an ANCC board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, who started her nursing career in 2010. Tonia’s 10 year psychiatric experience includes Staff Nurse, House Supervisor, Nurse Manager, Director of Nursing, and Nurse Practitioner. She has inpatient and outpatient experience with treating children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Tonia’s compassion, ethical decision making, critical thinking and reasoning, effective communication, and attention to detail are essential skills she possesses that along with her dedication and patient focus translate into providing optimal mental wellness.
She finds mental health to be intriguing, learning how the brain works is fascinating to her. There is fulfillment and reward in finding breakthrough innovative ways to help people take care of there mental health. She utilizes an integrative care model that along with encouraging the patient to participate in his or her treatment goals enhances their mental, physical, and social wellness.
Tonia completed her associates degree at Norwalk Community College and went on to complete her undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Texas at Arlington. She is dedicated to helping her patients live a healthy, productive, and fulfilling life. Tonia’s area of expertise include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and psychosis.
